TMC’s Security Chip with SM9 Algorithm Awarded OSCCA Level 2 Certificate

The SM9 algorithm adopted by TMC’s high-performance security chip THD89 obtained the OSCCA Level 2 Certificate, making THD89 one of the first chips receiving this certificate.

The SM9 algorithm is an identity-based cryptographic algorithm issued the Office of the State Commercial Cryptography Administration (OSCCA). Without needing to apply for a digital certificate, the SM9 streamlines the application and the verification, which is translated into significant advantages in ensuring the identity authentication and data security in such fields as mobile internet, IoT and big data. Therefore, it is an ideal choice for the security of smart terminals, IoT, cloud storage, among other hot applications.

SM9’s computing power assured by official organization

As a leader of security chips, TMC attaches great importance to the realization of SM9 algorithm on the chip, for which TMC has made in-depth research. As a result, the THD89 chip successfully passed the stringent review of senior experts during this certification and became one of the first chips holding the OSCCA Level 2 certificate by outdoing a batch of chips adopting the SM9 algorithm.

It is learned that this is the first time since the release of the SM9 algorithm that the OSCCA Test Center conducts the level-2 certification for chips with the SM9 algorithm. Passing this certification indicates that TMC is at a leading position in terms of the SM9 algorithm application and becomes one of a few chip suppliers in this field recognized by the official organization. More importantly, the SM9 computing power provided by the THD89 is effectively assured as its security has been recognized by the OSCCA.
