Tongxin Micro Unveils the THA6412 High-End Flagship R52+ Core-based Automotive-Grade MCU

On August 21, at the 2024 Tongxin Micro Partner Conference, Tongxin Micro officially launched the THA6412, a high-end flagship product from its second-generation THA6 series. This chip brings significant upgrades in safety, reliability, computing power, and real-time performance. Following the release of the THA6206 in July, THA6412 becomes another flagship R52+ ASIL D automotive-grade MCU. It has sparked considerable interest among Chinese automotive manufacturers.

Substantial Performance Improvement to Meet the Demands of Complex Automotive Environments

During the conference, Yang Bin, Deputy General Manager of the Automotive Electronics Business Division at Tongxin Micro, emphasized that the THA6412, as a key product in the high-end THA6 family, inherits the series' advantages of high performance, reliability, and security. The chip features ultra-large capacity, powerful peripherals, and a large number of pins. It is powered by Arm Cortex-R52+ cores with a clock speed of up to 400 MHz and built on the Armv8 architecture, offering exceptional computing power. The cores also provide lock-step functionality, supporting virtualization and multi-task isolation. The THA6412 integrates Bosch's latest GTM 4.1, supports high-resolution PWM, and has a built-in hardware RDC module. It supports both software and hardware decoding of resolver signals, making it an ideal solution for domain control applications, such as multi-in-one electric drive control units, engines, chassis domain control units, and zonal control units.

The THA6412 is an innovative exploration of future vehicle architectures. It delivers faster response times, improved performance, and higher integration, while also receiving ISO 26262 ASIL D functional safety process and product certifications. With an integrated high-efficiency HSM module, it supports Full EVITA, ensuring both functional safety and cybersecurity. The chip is compatible with mainstream industry debuggers, compilers, and other toolchains, offering a comprehensive set of solutions from the chip level to the system level. Yang Bin remarked, "As E/E architectures continue to evolve, more new products from the THA family will be launched in the future."
